Hey, hey. Welcome to episode number 433 of the Six Figure Secrets Podcast, where we pull back the curtain on what's working right now in online business so that you can scale sustainably and sell more without being glued to your phone. I'm your host, Alison Hardy. And I'm so glad you're here this week's episode.
This one's personal because I wanna talk about something I've built my entire business around and that is making social media a nice to have, not a have to have. I'm not talking about quitting it. I'm not talking about ghosting your audience, but building a business that doesn't depend on it, because the truth is social media is amazing.
Until it's not. It's fun. Until you're exhausted. It's powerful until the algorithm shifts and suddenly nothing's working. Back in 2016, Facebook pages got crazy traction. Do you remember those good old days? My goodness gracious. I was showing up consistently. I was building community.
I was actually getting somewhere, and then Facebook ads launched. And overnight that amazing reach that I got through my Facebook page. Disappeared. Not because I changed anything, not because I was doing anything wrong, but because the algorithm changed and I had literally no control over it, and that was my wake up call.
That's when I decided that I was going to build an actual business, not a popularity contest, and that I needed to do it in a way that was smart and sustainable. So I turned to email marketing. Email marketing allows me to own my audience, guide subscribers to a sales page without jumping through platform hoops and build trust in a place where people are more focused and less distracted, it has become the engine of my business.
Nope. It became the engine of my business, and honestly, it still is. So here's what it looks like behind the scenes. Whether someone downloads a freebie or an opt-in, or lead magnet, whatever you wanna call it, they sign up for a private podcast series, they grab a low ticket offer, they're immediately funneled into an email sequence that welcomes them, supports them.
And sells to them. I'm not manually following up. I'm not DMing strangers on the internet. I'm not warming up my audience before I pitch because my emails are doing that every single gosh, strong day for me. So in life life's when I'm sick, when one of my kids are sick, or I just don't wanna show up on social media, my business still works because I've built something that sells without me constantly performing. So what kind of results does this get? Let's talk some real numbers. So I've had people join my email list, go through one automated email funnel, and buy a $1,970 offer without. Ever following me on Instagram, I launched my membership emails that sell.
I've launched bundles, I have filled mastermind spots. I have sold digital products all through email. And the wild part here, and this is like the part that I really love about this and that I'm like super proud of, the wild part here is that most of these emails were written once and they still work. And some of these emails were written years ago, literally plural, years ago. You can't say that about social media. What worked yesterday, no longer works on social media, right? And this is the part that no one talks about. This is the kind of behind the scenes automation and strategy that gives you actual freedom, not just another content plan that eats up your entire week.
So here's how. If you're new to email or just haven't gone all yet in, here's three things I want you to do.
Number one, give your lead magnet, your freemium, your opt-in, whatever the heck you call it, a glow up. Make sure it leads to something that you actually sell, so make sure that the person who's downloading that lead magnet, the content that's there actually makes sense for your program. So if you're selling an email marketing program, your lead magnet should not be centered around reels, for example. So there should be some sort of correlation. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it does need to be intentional. No more freebies that lead to dead. Ends, there should be a point to them, right? A bigger picture strategy point to them. They should lead to your program.
Number two, I want you to build an actual real email funnel. And no, I don't mean like a welcome sequence that says Hey, thanks for joining, let's be friends. No, I mean, a strategic multi email sequence that builds trust, teaches and invites the sale.
And number three, I want you to start pitching unapologetically. This might sting a bit, but it's true, and I'm saying this from a place of love. I'm saying this from a place of, I've seen this so many times, and I'm saying this from a place of like, I get it. I know that this is hard. But the reality of the situation is this.
If you're not regularly pitching, it's probably because you're not fully sold on your own offer. I know the best way to help people is to get them in the room with you. Get them into your program. So ask yourself, what do I need to do to get behind my offer? What do I need to do to sell myself on my own offer?
And then once you've wrapped your head around that, I want you to start inviting, and I want you to start inviting boldly. And one bonus tip for you, I want you to email your list consistently. Yes, your list. I want you to show up at least once a week. You don't need to write a novel. Just be helpful, be a real person, and be clear on what the next step is for your people.
